I ate really very well! The place is well-cared for in the details and has a warm and welcoming atmosphere, which makes spending time at the table pleasant. Everything was good

WHEN ROMAN CUISINE IS DRESSED IN ELEGANCE, DELICACY AND HANDED-DOWN FLAVORS
As a Sicilian, I have always considered Roman and Lazio cuisine too heavy and rustic, dedicated to satisfying its fellow citizens especially with hyper-generous portions and strong flavors, and this was enough to consider it good cuisine. My arrival at taverna MARI forced me to apologize to this region that has hosted me for years. For the first time I saw dishes of your tradition presented and tasted with refinement, delicacy, and fragrant and balanced flavors. From the homemade pasta with a white ragu' that is very simple but softly scented only by the vegetables (soffritto) that a ragu' requires, all with the winning card of the quality of the ingredients used. The braised cheek, even if with white wine instead of red due to choices of lightness linked to the summer season, was the emblem of melt-in-your-mouth tenderness and flavor. Impeccable. But with the dessert, I regressed to a greedy and ravenous child, I am not talking about who knows what cloying dough or anything else, but a simple soft and fluffy dessert with a crown of peach slices (I would have just seared them in a pan with a little honey or brown sugar to soften them and make the fragrant peach slices more appetizing, at the moment it is mixed with this mousse that is not cloying at all). If I have to summarize why TAVERNA MARI differs from the thousands of restaurants and trattorias of Lazio cuisine, REFINEMENT AND QUALITY IN THE INTERPRETATION OF THE CULINARY HISTORY OF THIS LAND comes to mind. As soon as you enter, you immediately notice the delightful and very well-kept environment. The hospitality of the family management and the staff does a lot, both in the pleasant chats and in the kitchen recommendations, which in fact turns out to be of a high level.
